Just after 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Michael Radkiewicz and Katarzyna Hajduk, of Sterling Heights, welcomed their brand new baby girl, Kaia, into the world.

Kaia was delivered at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.

As one of the area's newest Leaplings – an endearing term given to those born on Feb. 29 during a Leap Year – Kaia will only celebrate her true birthday once every four years, giving her one of the most rare and special birthdays a kid can have.
