Troy High Bands and Orchestras Present a Festival Concert @ The Max
Troy High Instrumental Ensembles to Take the Stage at World-Renowned Orchestra Hall
Rarely do high school musicians perform on a stage graced by world-famous performers and conductors. But on February 28th, Troy High School’s Bands and Orchestras have just such an opportunity when they present A Festival Concert at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall. The Festival Concert gives the ensembles, made up of over 400 students, the opportunity to perform at one of the finest venues in the Midwest. Patrons will be lucky as well to be able to share in an exceptional night of musical magic presented by talented young musicians.
The Campus, Concert and Symphonic bands will perform musical works ranging from John Phillip Sousa to Malcolm Arnold. The Freshmen, Concert and Symphonic Orchestras will present music by Howard Hanson, Peter I. Tchaikovsky, Amadeus Mozart, and Antonin Dvorak among others.
The Festival Concert gives the ensembles the opportunity to share with the public the music they will be playing in state and national competitions. In March, each ensemble will participate in competitions sponsored by the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association before travelling out-of-state to compete on a national level. In April, the Concert and Symphonic Bands will travel to Chicago for the Masters of Music at Symphony Center. Meanwhile, the Symphony Orchestra was honored to accept an invitation to appear on stage at Lincoln Center as the evening concert’s featured performance. The Philharmonic Orchestra will be competing at the National Band & Orchestra Festival, also at Lincoln Center.
Admission to The Festival Concert is $15.00 and performances begin at 7 p.m. The ticket form can be found online at http://www.troycoltbands.org/FestivalConcert.shtm. Orchestra Hall in the Max M.
