Child Struck by Car on Coolidge Suffers Serious Injuries
Troy Police say the boy ran out into traffic Saturday evening on busy highway south of Big Beaver.
A 12-year-old boy from Troy was seriously injured Saturday evening after being hit by a car on Coolidge Highway south of Big Beaver Road.
The boy ran into traffic on Coolidge between Glouchester and Golfview when the driver struck him in the southbound lanes, Troy police spokesman Andi Breidenich said.
Breidenich said it was unknown whether the driver will face charges. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident, he said.
"It just appears that the driver was driving and the kid got out in front of them," Breidenich said.
The boy was listed in serious condition at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
