City Now Accepting Applications for Vacant Council Seat

Council must appoint a replacement for Acting Mayor Dane Slater, who was chosen Monday evening to serve as mayor for the next year.

 

The following information was provided by the City of Troy.

The Troy City Council is accepting applications from Troy residents interested in being considered for the vacant City Council seat. Applicants must be Troy residents, registered voters and not in default to the City.

Applications are due to the City Clerk’s Office by Wednesday, Nov. 28 at noon. 

The application is available online and at the City Clerk’s Office, or it may be printed from this article (see attached PDF file). All applications will be considered public record.

City Council will review the applications at the Dec. 3 Council Study Session and conduct interviews of the finalists at the Dec. 17 Regular Council Meeting.

City Council will vote on an appointment of the Council Member at the Dec. 17 meeting. The person appointed will serve a term expiring Nov. 11, 2013.

I would only hope that members of our diverse ethnic groups apply. Neither this nor previous Councils has had any representation from these backgrounds

Irv ,I very much support that idea . Maybe our council can start looking like Troy's population .

At the least whom ever is chosen must not be partisan . We need to get partitionship out of our council .
