Ed Pennington Sworn In as Troy City Councilman
Council unanimously appointed Pennington Monday evening.
After a short round of voting Monday evening, Council unanimously appointed Ed Pennington to Troy City Council. He was sworn in immediately following the vote by Troy City Clerk Aileen Bittner.
Pennington, a Troy resident for eight years, has owned Pennington Collision in Troy for 22 years. The business has been in his family since 1968.
During his interview Monday, Pennington told Council members he would "like to see Council work together without division" and said he'd provide a stable voice on Council.
"I've always considered myself an independent thinker," he added.
A seat on council opened up on Nov. 26 when Mayor Dane Slater resigned his seat in order to serve as mayor. Slater replaces former Troy Mayor Janice Daniels, who was recalled on Nov. 6.
On Wednesday, Oakland County 6th Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris ordered Troy to hold a May 2013 special election to elect a mayor to serve until the November 2013 city election.
