Dane Slater Sworn In as Acting Mayor of Troy

Slater replaces Councilwoman Maureen McGinnis, who has served as acting mayor since Friday.

Less than half an hour into Monday evening's Troy City Council meeting, Councilman Dane Slater was sworn in as Mayor Pro Tem and Acting Mayor of Troy.

Slater replaces Councilwoman Maureen McGinnis, who was sworn in Friday as acting Mayor of Troy following the Tuesday recall of former mayor Janice Daniels. The role of Mayor Pro Tem rotates to a new council member every November, and Slater will now serve until Council appoints a replacement to serve as mayor until the Nov. 5, 2013 city election.

Well, according to the Channel 4 news, Ruth Spencer congratulated "Diane Slater as the new Mayor of Troy". "She replaces Maureen McGinnis" were her words. I can't to see what's the next embarrassing issue to argue about at the council meetings? The library is open and Janice Daniels is gone, so what about the 2nd windmill in front of city hall that isn't working i.e. it does not spin, i.e. no power, i.e. so much for alternative energy, i.e. light bulb doesn't work.

Anonymous , Why are you not willing to take responsibility for your ideas and words ? I was taught to keep your mouth shut unless you are willing to standby your words . Anonymous fails to do that.

Really -- what difference does it make what name I use; I am standing by my words. Is Daffy Noodnicks someone's real name? Besides maybe you're not pronouncing it right or I didn't spell it correctly -- it's Anony Mous.

I give my name to anyone who asks. The pseudonym is a very small attempt at levity. I am an easily amused person sometimes. I totally agree it doesn't matter and it is not incumbent on anyone to provide their real name. This is not a court of law or the halls of congress. It's just a community news page..

Dane Slater = Kwayme Kilpatrick of the suburbs. The man doesn't have the word integrity listed in his dictionary.
