Police: $800 Stolen From Elderly Couple
Male suspect called the elderly woman 'Mom' and followed her home from a local gas station.
The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department on Tuesday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
An elderly couple from Troy said that a man and a woman claiming to be family talked their way into the couple's home and left shortly thereafter with $800 and some jewelry from the home. According to police, the elderly woman left a gas station lobby in the 14 Mile Road and Dequindre Road area and was approached by a man who called her, "Mom," at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
They were followed home, where the suspects — a heavyset man with a round face and a heavy woman he was working with, along with a young boy — talked their way inside, police said. They were in the home for five minutes and left having committed larceny, police said.
