Father Arrested in Homicide Death of 3-Month-Old Troy Baby

First responders found the infant girl unresponsive on the floor of a Troy home Monday while the father stood nearby.

The father of a 3-month-old infant who died Monday has been arrested and his daughter's death ruled a homicide, according to a media release from the Troy Police Department.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner ruled the baby girl's death a homicide by blunt force trauma.

Officers responding to a 911 call about an "unresponsive" baby just after 2 a.m. Monday were met outside the Troy home by the hysterical mother, who directed officers to the basement of the home.

According to the media release, officers found the infant "lying on a rug on the floor of the bedroom with the father standing several feet away." Alliance Ambulance medical personnel arrived with the officers, picked up the baby, began CPR and immediately transported her to St. John's Hospital Oakland. The baby was pronounced dead at 3:04 a.m. 

The Oakland County Medical Examiners Officer conducted an autopsy on Monday, and based on their findings, the cause of death was ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of the father, who is currently in custody at the Troy Police Department. Police anticipate that a request for a warrant will be submitted to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office sometime Wednesday. 

The Troy Police Department's investigation is ongoing, and they are not releasing further information at this time.
