League of Women Voters Host Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters Troy Area will host a school board candidate forum tonight and a City Council and mayoral candidate forum on Tuesday night.

Five candidates vying for seats on the Troy School Board of Education will meet tonight for a candidate forum held by the League of Women Voters Troy Area.

The forum, which will be held at 7 p.m. at the Troy Schools Services Building, 4420 Livernois, will run until 8:30 p.m. The 1 1/2-hour program will be webcast on video on demand with air times to be announced.

Candidates running for the school board include incumbents Gary Hauff; M'Liz Malven; and Todd Miletti. New candidates include Troy businessman and university instructor Karl Schmidt; and engineer Christian Teodoridis.

The League of Women Voters will host a second candidate forum on Tuesday evening for Troy City Council and mayoral candidates. That meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Troy Community Center, rooms 304 and 305.

Both candidate night forums are free and open to the public. Reservations aren't necessary, but residents are asked to be in their seats prior to the 7 p.m. start times.
