Maureen McGinnis to be Sworn In as Acting Mayor This Afternoon

McGinnis will replace outgoing Mayor Janice Daniels, who was recalled Tuesday.

In Troy, where embattled Mayor Janice Daniels was recalled Tuesday by Troy residents, Mayor Pro Tem Maureen McGinnis, 34, is set to be sworn in as Acting Mayor of Troy Friday at 2 p.m. in council chambers at Troy City Hall, according to an email from the city.

The Swearing-In Ceremony is open to the public. McGinnis will serve as Acting Mayor of Troy until Monday's Troy City Council meeting, when Councilman Dane Slater is scheduled to take over as Acting Mayor of Troy.

According to the City Charter, council designates a new Mayor Pro Tem each year in November, with Slater slated to serve next. Unless Troy City Council votes to amend is Rules of Procedure, which are up for annual review on Monday, Slater will take over as Mayor Pro Tem and be sworn in as acting Mayor of Troy during Monday's meeting.
