Troy Schools Score Well Above State Average on MEAP Exam
Here are the Fall 2011 MEAP general scores for the Troy School District.

The Michigan Department of Education released its Fall 2011 MEAP scores today, and the results are mixed. In general, math and reading scores are up from last year, but writing and social studies scores are down district-wide and statewide from last year.
In the Troy School District, between 62.2 percent and 82.4 percent of third- through eighth-grade students met or exceeded MEAP standards in math, and between 80.4 percent and 90 percent of third- through eighth-grade students met or exceeded MEAP score standards in reading.
Statewide, from 29.4 percent to 39.6 percent of students in third through eighth grade met or exceeded standards in math, and between 59 percent and 68.8 percent of students in third through eighth grade met or exceeded standards in reading.
Troy students scored well above the state average in every category in every grade.
The cut scores – the passing scores that distinguish between whether a student is advanced, proficient, partially proficient or not proficient in certain subjects - were adopted by the State Board of Education in September 2010. With the more rigorous cut scores, students need to get roughly 65 percent of the answers correct to “pass” the state test, instead of only 39 percent that was the previous benchmark.
For accurate comparison, past MEAP scores have been retroactively adjusted to reflect the new cut scores.
