Have a story, Troy? Tim Rath wants to hear — and write — all about it.

Tim, a lifelong Oakland County guy, took over this week as editor of Troy Patch. He comes to Troy from West Bloomfield Patch, which he launched two years ago.

Tim replaces editor Jen Anesi, who left in December.

"I want to find out what moves the people of Troy," Tim said. "Patch really depends on the people who live in the community — I want to see what drives them, and then I want to tell those stories."

Tim said he hopes to put his focus on reporting business development and city planning issues; he mentioned the Troy Transit Center as a subject he is excited to explore. Tim, who got his start with Patch.com covering high school sports for several Patch sites in the San Fransisco area, intends to write about local sports as part of his school coverage.

Tim graduated from Oakland University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in journalism; in addition to writing, he considers photography one of his "professional hobbies."

You'll find Tim around town, working in various coffee houses as part of his mobile Patch office. Tim also intends to spend a lot of time working at the Troy Library, and he's searching for a few good diner suggestions, too (leave your tips in the comments below).

You can reach Tim at Tim.Rath@patch.com or (248) 622-7994.

Welcome to town Tim! Jen did a great job, and we've missed her. We've missed having someone taking care of Troy's own Patch! You'll find a great community of people who are interested and involved, You'll get to know a fairly large cast of characters who are working to make Troy the best it can be, those who don't live here but think they should be able to dictate how we should run our community, as well as those who prefer a different approach. You soon get to know them. One thing you can be sure of, it won't be dull.

Welcome, Tim. Diner recommendations? For great coffee, baked goods, and lunch, try Ridley's on Wattles and Rochester Road. For lunch or dinner, Joe Kool's on Big Beaver. Others on Big Beaver are Kona Grill, Granite City. Kruse and Muer on Crooks, Pudge's deli and Camp Ticonderoga on Rochester, Alibi for pizza on Rochester. There are more, but I'm hoping others will give you some recommendations.

Welcome to Troy, Tim! My favorite Troy restaurants are Papa Vino's, Lukich's, and Shield's Pizza. For other ethnic food there are some good Chinese restaurants and the American Polish Cultural Center.

At Beachwood Swim Club in our neighborhood, the pizza favorites are Jet's Pizza in Birmingham and Papa Romano's.
