An investigation is ongoing into the alleged sexual relationship between a parent volunteer for the Athens High School Bowling Club and a minor student at Troy Athens High School.
The Farmington Hills Police Department is handling the investigation, according to Sgt. Andy Breidenich, spokesperson for the Troy Police Department.
Derek Grosso, 37, was charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree on March 28; he pleaded not guilty, according to a report from WXYZ Channel 7.
The Troy School District also released the following statement:
The Troy School District has cooperated fully with the investigation into the alleged actions of a parent volunteer with the Athens High School Bowling Club. The parent assistant has been notified that he is no longer welcome to volunteer in the District, pending the outcome of the investigation. To our limited knowledge, nothing is suspected to have occurred on school property or at any school-sponsored event, so I would ask that any further questions be directed to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office or the Farmington Hills Police.
Grosso is scheduled to appear again in court on April 13, according to WXYZ.
