Couple kisses on New Year's eve on Dec. 31, 2009.
A couple rings in a past New Year with a kiss.

It's a tradition – at midnight on New Year's Eve, you find a partner and give them a big old kiss.

Some people kiss out of excitement for the new year, more superstitious people do it to ward off a year of loneliness, and others smooch to set a positive tone for the new year.

Whatever your reason for puckering up, we want to see your New Year's Eve kiss!

You can upload your photo right here, email it to jen.anesi@patch.com or text it to 248-202-7375. Don't forget to include your name, the name of the person you're kissing and your hometown(s).

And if you want, include a New Year's message to other Patch readers in your photo's caption.

Happy smooching, and Happy New Year!
