What was the speech all about....she mentioned many great things about the CIty that she had nothing to do with and nothing that she had done....One GLARING error was her thanking Stewart Frankel Development for Somerset North. That company had nothing whatsoever to do with Somerset North. It was a partnership between Frankel Associates (Sam and Stanley Frankel) and Forbes Cohen Partners. So about 25 or 30 of her supporters showed up to listen to her spout off on her federal government ideology and giving credit to the State and County for the 3 year budgets instead of thanking John Szerlag for his foresight and being far ahead of everyone else in recognizing the fiscal dangers ahead.

I agree completely with Daffy Noodnicks (Matt Goodman) that this will have no effect on the recall election's outcome. The mayor’s detractors are finding fault, as usual. The rest of us were doing other things that night.

The majority of people who attended (three out of four?) were not recall supporters. Matt Binkowski gives no reason for the recall other than the embarrassment the mayor has caused the city in liberal circles, reported by the news media because of the controversy. In conservative circles, there is no embarrassment, except perhaps for the lack of people willing to take abuse for defending her, understandably because of guilt by association and other tactics used by her detractors.

Matt, how about the following positive thing the Troy Council did unanimously under the mayor’s leadership:

She got nothing but criticism for it, but it sounds like many other city councils, the MSPC and the utility agreed to give people the freedom to opt out of the smart meters.

I said I didnt think it would have much impact on the recall. I never said I thought it was ok to move it from when it is usually given or she should be exempt from criticism. It was clearly a campaign related move, and I am concerned this selfish action of moving the date might expose taxpayers to legal liability, as Janice Daniels herself had threatened before she was mayor.

She went on local radio and said false and irresponsible things about gay people. I found it incredibly embarrassing that the mayor of the city where I live would publicly voice such ignorance (again).

Her behavior in this regard has been reprehensible.

Dale: you do not speak for "conservative circles". You should stop pretending you do. There are plenty of conservative people who are aghast at this woman's behavior. Of course you weren't embarrassed, you lose no occasion to bend over backwards to slavishly excuse her actions, no matter awful.

The electrical meter thing? That's what you got? Well, that has absolutely zero impact for probably >99% of Troy residents. Pardon me for not being greatly impressed, but if she had done nothing the result would have been exactly the same.
