For so many at Seaholm High School, Collin Trask was more than a classmate.

For so many, Trask — who passed away Tuesday after a long battle with cancer — was an inspiration.

"To know you even for a little while is a blessing and you will forever be an inspiration," Brooke Jackson tweeted on Tuesday.

She was one of hundreds of students and community members who took to social media to remember Trask, a football fan once described by the Seaholm Highlander as "the toughest kid at Seaholm."

Diagnosed in seventh grade, Trask suffered from a medulloblastoma, a kind of brain tumor that lodged itself in Trask's brain and spinal cord.

After suffering a stroke on Jan. 15, Trask passed away around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to his Care Pages profile. Trask turned 18 years old Jan. 16 and would have graduated from Seaholm this spring.

A public visitation for Trask will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Desmond & Sons Funeral Home in Troy, at 2600 Crooks Rd.

A funeral service, meanwhile, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Birmingham. Visitation begins at the church at 9 a.m.
