Hate Message Found Painted on St. Joseph Chaldean Catholic Church

The messages were found by church members arriving for mass Thursday morning.

Church members arriving for mass at Thursday morning discovered a hateful message spray painted on the side of the building.

The message, written in orange paint, read "(Expletive) war" and "U R Dead," according to Local 4 News. The message has since been removed.

It is the first time in the 30 years the church has been located on Big Beaver Road that it has been the target of vandals, according to Local 4. Officer Andy Breidenich, spokesperson for the , said the incident is still under investigation.

"The City of Troy will not tolerate any 'hate' crimes and will investigate any leads to discover and prosecute those displaying such hatred in a criminal manner," Breidenich said.

“If someone has any issue with anything political going on in the world today, I think they need to know that the church has been preaching this message of peace and respect and human dignity,” Father Rudy Zoma told WXYZ Thursday morning.

Zoma told WXYZ the church is now considering installing surveillance cameras.
