It is Troy’s fourth straight win and the third time in four games the team has scored at least six goals.

With a hat trick, James Nahikian pushed his streak of scoring three or more points in a game to four games. Nahikian, a senior, has scored 13 goals in the last two weeks to push his season total to 39. He is currently leading the state of Michigan in scoring.

“He’s in the zone right now,” Zimmerman said. “It’s a tribute to him that he’s doing it when people know about him and teams are game planning against him.”

In over 30 years of coaching, Zimmerman has never had a player put up the numbers Nahikian has over the team’s last four games.

Nahikian was one of three players to score in the first period to give the Colts (12-8; 4-6 Oakland Activities Association White) an early 3-0 lead. Edmund Qiao and D.J. Meyers scored the game's first two goals.

“I think its confidence – you score one or two goals and you get confident and want to keep it going,” Zimmerman said.

That was just the beginning of Troy’s impressive offensive display. Meyers put up hat trick as well, and eleven different players notched at least one assist.

The unselfishness and teamwork the Colts displayed throughout the game was tough for L’anse Creuse to overcome.

“That’s fun to coach, and tough to coach against when a team is playing like that.” Zimmerman said.

The longest Troy went without scoring was in the second period, when the Colts didn’t score until there was 5:27 left. Meyers scored his second goal from Harrison Stoolmiller to get things rolling again. Meyers and Nahikian traded goals until Hess ended the game.
