Troy Mayor Janice Daniels No Longer Selling Real Estate
Daniels, who works for Century 21 Town & Country, voluntarily put her real estate license in escrow after her anti-gay Facebook status went viral Friday.
Reports claiming Troy Mayor Janice Daniels was fired from her job at Century 21 Town & Country are not true, according to the manager of the real estate office where Daniels worked.
On Wednesday, the online LGBT publication Get Out and Live and The Oakland Press both reported that Troy Mayor Janice Daniels, who has been under fire since Friday for an anti-gay remark she made on her Facebook page, had been "let go" from her job at Century 21.
"That is absolutely false," Dan Kersten, manager of the Century 21 Town & Country office in Troy, said Wednesday evening.
"She has not been let go. She voluntarily put her license in escrow, so she’s not able to practice real estate.”
Kersten's statement matches the statement Daniels made Monday when she showed up to a student-led protest at City Hall, where she added, "I have suffered consequences, too."
“I’ve only met Janice a couple times, and I don’t know her very well," Kersten said. "She’s pretty much part time. She doesn’t even have a desk.”
Kersten said he did not know if or when Daniels would return, and chose not to make a statement regarding Daniels on behalf of Century 21 Town & Country.

From Troy Mayor to Protesters: 'I Said One Word That You Don't Like', Monday, Dec. 7 http://troy.patch.com/articles/troy-mayor-to-protesters-it-was-one-little-word#video-8628927 ... Daniels also said Century 21, her employer, has asked Daniels to put her "license in escrow"– meaning she has "suffered consequences, too."
There's a difference between being asked to put your real estate license in escrow and doing so voluntarily. Apparently, someone isn't being straight with reporters.

As an agent who works with http://www.manhattan-condos-for-sale.com/ as a Manhattan specialist, and someone who uses social media, it is important for everyone to know that social implies "public." Therefore you must know that what you think is private, is really not anymore.

I called her "place of employment" Town and Country and was told that "there isn't any such thing as escrow in the State of Michigan and hasn't been for 20 years." I also asked if JD was an "active" agent as is shown on the State of Michigan site. They said they will have someone call me back. That was last week - still waiting.

It is her responsibility to address these questions about her employment. She has talked about transparency. She should make it clear to her constituents if or how she could find herself in a conflict of interest. She is voting on contracts, etc. What does she do? How does she support herself? We also have heard her say she is a single mother. We clearly understand that she has not worked for Century 21 as a real estate agent for some time. What is she doing? Where's the transparency Janice?
