Troy Mayor Janice Daniels and State House of Representatives Candidate Martin Howrylak will speak Monday night at Marinelli's.

The following information was submitted by Glenn Clark/Troy Republican Committee.

The Troy Republican Committee, in conjunction with Oakland County Conservatives, will be hosting a grassroots forum on Monday, July 16 with Troy Mayor Janice Daniels and Republican House of Representatives candidate Martin Howrylak.

Republican and conservative activists along with members of the community at-large are invited to listen to the views of these two conservative leaders as well as ask them questions during the forum.

The grassroots forum, which aims to give taxpayers information as to where both speakers stand on important issues, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Marinelli’s Restaurant in Troy. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a social event prior to the forum.

They may qualify as conservative, but unfortunately they are both IDIOTS who cant't even tie their own shoes! I would venture to say that they are both grateful for velcro shoe closures! they give true conserevatives (like me) a bad name and a sour feeling in the pit of our stomachs! I cannot figure how either of these YoYos evr got elected! As for Matt Howrylak, I thank God for term limitations!

Martin Howrylak is the best qualified of the three Republicans running for State Representative from Troy/Clawson in the August 7 primary.

He’s a practicing CPA, has served 12 years on Troy’s City Council and has never wavered from fiscal and social conservative principles, despite attacks and misrepresentations by his opponents. Martin Howrylak has my support along with dozens of other grassroots conservatives.

Martin Howrylak was elected to the council by a majority of Troy voters three times in a row. For more information about his State Representative campaign and platform, visit www.howrylak.com

Mr. Murrish - Thank you for your opinion but Mr Howrylak may have the qualifications but he does not have the honestly to show them. There were many dishonest mailings to the citizens distorting the numbers. I am conservative but - I don't like people distorting the numbers for their own gain - or is he really that qualified? I wonder why Mr. Howrylak waited until the last hour to present his budget proposals last year? One would think he would want to give his fellow council members time to review. There is a lot of political posturing - I would like to see a real concern for the city instead of political gains. Let the parties decide the country but I believe our council should try to be non-partisan - my guess is that is probably not going to happen.

I've found Martin Howrylak to be straightforward and honest in all my dealings with him (almost 20 years). My guess is he knew the budget he and Wade Fleming presented would be dead on arrival with a 5-2 liberal majority. You could ask Martin Howrylak yourself and get his view on that issue.

Local politics in Troy are in fact highly partisan, despite the "non-partisan" nature of the council. To pretend otherwise or that local politicians should not care about state or national issues is living in a make-believe world. Conservatives and liberals represent all the people, regardless of the level of government they serve on.

Labels like liberal and conservative are highly subjective. One persons conservative is another persons liberal. Over reliance on such labels is unproductive and promotes bad government.
