The following information was submitted by Matt Friedman/Tanner Friedman.

A relay team of employees and friends of Wells Fargo Advisors successfully completed the Motor City Triathlon on June 17 to raise money for a Michigan-based Foundation that provides phone calling cards to U.S. Troops stationed overseas.  The event included:

  • Swimming - 1500 meters in the Detroit River
  • Biking - 24.9 miles on Belle Isle
  • Runing - 6.2 Miles on Belle Isle

This triathlon which was coached by Steve Green of the Troy Wells Fargo Advisors office and Rob Groves of the Birmingham office.

The team raised more than $5,000 for Mikie's Minutes, a program that connects U.S. soldiers serving in the field with loved ones at home by providing phone minutes to soldiers serving far away from home.  The foundation was started to honor Sergeant Michael Ingram Jr., a fallen hero of the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan and who was from Monroe, Michigan, where his family still resides today.
