Woman Arrested After Troy Home Invasion

Police said suspect was wearing black clothing and rubber gloves while carrying a flashlight and backpack.

A 41-year-old Troy woman was arrested and arraigned Monday morning in connection with a home invasion in the 1000 block of Congress.

Troy police officers responding about 4:40 a.m. to a 911 report from a resident of a home invasion in progress were able to track and arrest the woman, said Lt. Robert Redmond, public information officer for the department.

Salwa Salim Mansour was arraigned Monday in 52-4 District Court in Troy on one count of home invasion and one count of larceny from an automobile. She was being held Monday afternoon in lieu of $25,000 cash or surety bond.

Redmond said the resident told emergency dispatchers the woman was in the downstairs portion of the home with a flashlight and dressed in black. The man then yelled at the woman before she fled the scene.

"Officers quickly arrived and set up a perimeter," Redmond said in a news release. "K-9 unit arrived and began tracking the suspect. An officer stopped the suspect and caught her."

Redmond said the woman was wearing a rubber gloves and a blue backpack that contained two purses, two GPS units, jewelry and a container with suspected narcotics. He said the purses belonged to the resident's wife and had been taken out of the vehicles that were parked in the garage.

Police said the suspect entered the garage through an unlocked side door and then entered the home through an unlocked door from another unlocked door.
