Women Injured in Separate Fights at Mon Jin Lau

Two women received minor facial injuries in separate fights at the popular Troy restaurant last Thursday.

Two women received minor injuries in separate incidents early Thursday morning, according to a media release from the Troy Police Department.

In the first incident, a Troy Police officer responded to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak just after midnight Thursday morning to meet with a woman who reported just being injured in a fight at Mon Jin Lau.

The 27-year-old Farmington Hills woman told the officer that someone had come up behind her and poured a drink on her. When she turned around, she was hit in the face with a glass that broke, cutting her lip and nose, according to a media release from the Troy Police Department.

The woman fought back, and the fight was eventually broken up by bouncers. The woman, who suffered minor injuries, said the attack was unprovoked. Her friends transported her to the hospital for treatment.

In the second incident, a Troy officer on patrol pulled into the parking lot of Mon Jin Lau around 2:30 a.m. Thursday after he heard yelling coming from the area. A bouncer told the officer that a woman had just assaulted another woman inside the restaurant, according to the media release.

A 27-year-old Rochester Hills woman, who appeared intoxicated, told the officer she hit another woman after the woman threw a drink on her, according to the report. The victim, a 35-year-old Royal Oak woman, said she was hit in the face with a shot glass for no reason. She sustained a minor facial injury and will be following up with the city attorney for prosecution.

We were there that night. Mon Jin Lau is a classy establishment. What places that mix alcohol and people never have issues? You only hear about it now because they actually never have any problems. The two parties involved actually knew each other, so it wasn't as random as it sounds.
