So, ladies and gentleman, it's time to reveal how my hard work has paid off so far!
.....drum roll......
So at the half way mark I'm officially down in my hips 1-1/4 inch, waist 1 inch , neck 1/8 inch, BMI down 1 pt and down 2 lbs!!!!
OK, I will be honest: I had hoped for more in the weigh loss department, but I am crazy happy about all the other measurements! So as for the weight loss, it's definitely time to recommit to changing my diet habits. I know that the working out has helped enormously, but without dietary changes, I feel like I am cheating myself. Time to up the ante on the fruit and veggie front and say goodbye to some nasty eating habits.
Now that we are into the second half of the challenge, I have started to branch out and take on a third class: kickboxing. I felt it could help me with my punch skills. So I let my fellow challengers convince to do a double-class evening starting with kickboxing followed by a rousing class of Monkey Bar.
I admit that since I started with the Krav classes, I had missed monkey bar classes ad felt as if I FINALLY had the stamina to do 2 classes in a row.....but we will get to that later.
Since I had never been to a kickboxing class before, I borrowed a pair of boxing gloves from the gym (FYI, they were pink) and began to punch away. I loved it. I was able to kick, punch, jab, knee and elbow he bag, and I didn't feel girly or stupid. Yahoo!
So after an awesome 45 minute class, I was ready for Monkey Bar....and once again the overconfidence crept in. That night's class was called "deck of cards." Doesn't sound so bad does it?
WRONG! The four card suits represent four different exercises. The number on the card is the number of times you have to do that exercises. I have never had to do so many sit ups or jump rope so much in my life. Yes, I wanted to quit about 10 times during class. Yes, I felt like my arms would fall off, but the collective will of the class kept us all going.
Oh, and yes, when I went home after class, I did soak in the hot tub and then immediately fall asleep. The next morning was evaluation day!! Probably not smart to have done a double class the night before, but you live and learn. We then went through every pre-challenge exercise – yes, the power wheel was there again, but surprisingly, I didn't hate it.
It turns out I made or surpassed every one of my goals but two. Yes, one was the power wheel, but I actually improved quite a bit. Remember when I said I only made it a foot the first day? Well, I made it 1.5 yards! The other goal was jumping rope backwards, but I also improved that as well!
Now that we are in Week 5, I have re-shifted my priorities to really change my eating habits – and to also try to kick that powerwheel's behind!
