Troy-Area Interfaith Group --- Hanging of the Greens Experience

For Christians, the Advent season has begun, which means preparing for the coming of the Christ.  Many churches begin this journey with a "Hanging of the Greens" service.  For its December meeting, Troy-area Interfaith Group invites the community to join with Northminster Presbyterian Church in their observance.

“Hanging of the Greens”

Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 10:30-11:30 am

Northminster Presbyterian Church

3633 West Big Beaver, Troy 48084

Did you know that in ancient times, two warriors meeting under the mistletoe would throw down their weapons, and peace would reign?

It has become one of the symbols for the holiday season, but often people don’t know the origins of why.

On Sunday, December 2, at 10:30 am, we will celebrate the symbols of this holy season for Christians and other faith traditions. All are welcome to attend and learn about the meaning behind bells, candles, wreaths, evergreens, holly, lights and other symbols of the season

Help us celebrate and uplift the meaning of the season:

hope, peace, joy, and love!

Dress is casual and all faith traditions are welcome.
