They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. Well, that is how I have felt about exercise work outs for years.
Like may women of my age (36), I am battling the dreaded muffin top! Yes it is not an urban legend but a real deal. Also, like many women of my age group, I have a hard time justifying working out. There always seems to be a pull at every minute of my time, so traditional work outs really don't provide me with any temptations because there is nothing new to look forward to in those routines or machines. That is were this challenge has not only intrigued me but had me actually looking forward to it.
Let me back up first and tell you a bit about myself first. My name is Gretchen and I am the wife of a local Troy fireman, mother to my amazing 2-year-old son (no one tells you boys never sit still) and owner of an Australian Shepard (also never sits still). I am also a RN at a local hospital. So, needless to say, life is pretty busy at our house. Finding the motivation to get back into shape has been very hard to find lately.
This is where my good friend Amy, a fellow firefighter spouse, came to the rescue. Her love for Monkey Bar and Krav Maga Detroit has been absolutely infectious. She even convinced me to participate in the Michigan Warrior Dash this past summer. Yes it was challenge, yes I got extremely dirty but I was so proud of the fact that even though I hadn't really "worked out" in quite some time, I was able to do it all!
So when the opportunity to do this 60-day challenge and also to blog about it came up, I couldn't help but say yes. So as part of this blog, I will take you along on my journey. I will even show you some before and after pics to show you what really happens to me. Again I warn you that you will see some muffin top in the first pic, so be kind.
The kick off is Oct. 13, and I promise I will update you all as we go! Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you all!
Editor's Note: The 60-Day Challenge starts on Oct. 13 and includes 60 days of unlimited access to the Monkey Bar Gym, unlimited Krav Maga classes, goal monitoring and nutritional coaching for $199 altogether.
