30 Years of Failed Drug Policy
Oakland County NORML monthly meeting w/s/g Joe White of Michigan NORML and Michigan Justice Commission, presenting "30 Years of Failed Drug Policy." This blockbuster presentation explores the "The New Jim Crow," by Michelle Alexander and applies it against a recent Pew study on incarceration rates in the City of Detroit. The presentation explores the failed War on Drugs by highlighting the escalating public policy to its current evolution of a private prison system with an insatiable appetite for inmates.
Oakland County NORML is an affiliate of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, a nonprofit, public-interest lobby that provides a voice for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition. We are Oakland County’s hub for marijuana education and political action. Our monthly public meetings are held on the last Monday of each month. Join us on Facebook or Meet-Up to find out about our meeting times and locations.
