buildOn is a global nonprofit organization that breaks the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. At Troy High School, we have a buildOn chapter that works hard to support the organization’s efforts here and abroad; last year alone we sent nine Troy High students to Haiti to build a school.
The Troy BuildOn Benefit CookOff will raise funds for buildOn projects around the world. The evening will include:
- A COOKOFF COMPETITION - Groups of Troy High teachers will make different dishes for our guests to try. Everyone will vote for their favorite dish, and the winning group will receive a prize!
- A SILENT/LIVE AUCTION - Several groups and clubs around Troy High have made beautiful, high quality baskets for auction; with themes varying from "Troy High Spirit" to "Environmentally Friendly," there is a basket for every interest! We even have baskets donated from local businesses.
- MUSICAL PERFORMANCES - At Troy High, we have some extraordinarily talented musicians. A few will be playing for you at the cookOff! Performances include a string quartet, a Jazz ensemble, and a saxophone quartet.
Tickets are only $15 for adults, and $13 for students/children.

More About Troy Community Center
Troy Community Center is a full-service recreational facility located at 3179 Livernois Road. The Center offers numerous features and activities, including wide-open areas, commercial-free music, cable TV, wireless Internet and sports activities. The facility has an indoor pool as well as a water therapy pool, lap lanes, a two-court gymnasium (accommodates basketball, volleyball, badminton and pickleball), and three fitness rooms with state-of-the-art commercial equipment that includes 56 pieces of cardiovascular equipment, 25 circuit training machines and free weights. There are three locker rooms – for men, women and families – with showers, restrooms, lockers and private changing rooms. Personal trainers and massage therapy is available. There are four aerobic/dance studios used for a variety of exercise and fitness classes. Other amenities within the Community Center include Kids Korner (child care service), Game Room, Teen Room, Banquet Facility/Meeting Rooms.
