An annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation". Each year, the president signs a proclamation, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
On Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 7:00 pm; the Troy Interfaith Group will host and celebrate the National Day of Prayer in a family focused, multi-faith service at Congregation Shir Tikvah (3900 Northfield ParkwayTroy, Michigan). Congregation Shir Tikvah is an innovative, yet traditional, friendly and inclusive congregation, valuing diversity, where all can seek G-d. Faith communities in the Troy Area are warmly invited to attend this inspiring national event to connect all who trust in the prayer.
The Troy-area Interfaith Group exists to invite all faith communities to gather, grow and give for the sake of promoting the common values of love, peace and justice among all religions locally and globally. We believe that peace among peoples and nations, requires peace among the religions.
