Troy Police Spread Holiday Cheer at 'Shop with a Cop' Event

"Shop with a Cop" provides gifts to Troy-area children in need.

The following information was provided by the Troy Police Department.

This year's "Shop with a Cop" event, held Tuesday at Walmart in Troy, helped provide a happier holiday for nearly two dozen Troy-area children in need.

Twenty-three kids led 14 Troy Police officers on a high speed pursuit through the store to select gift items they would otherwise be without this Christmas. Fifteen volunteers also assisted during the event, wrapping gifts and organizing along with Troy Police officer Janice Pokley.

“It was great to see all the kids smiling and buying gifts for their family," Pokley said. "I would also like to thank all the volunteers and officers who made the event such a success."
