5 Places Open on Christmas Day in Troy

If you end up forgetting a key ingredient for Christmas dinner (we hear butter is a hot item on Christmas day) or are looking to get out of the house, here are five places that are open on Christmas Day.

1. 7-Eleven

The convenience store becomes the hot spot for convenience Christmas Day. On the way to Grandma's house, you can also pick up some last-minute items, from Advil to Gatorade. The 7-Eleven at 2891 Crooks Rd. is open 24 hours on Christmas Day.

2. Walgreens

The Walgreens at 1965 E. Big Beaver Rd. will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; the pharmacy is closed. The store's number one seller on Christmas? Butter.

3. Royal Indian Cuisine

If you are craving something spicy on Christmas, the Royal Indian Cuisine Restaurant is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

4. East Lake Chinese Restaurant

If lo mein is your thing on Christmas, or if you just don't want to cook, East Lake Chinese Restaurant will be open and serving up tasty Chinese dishes from 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m.

5. Movie theatres

OK, we know we don't technically have one in Troy, but many people make a trip to the movie theatre on Christmas Day, so it made our list anyway. Check out Emagine Royal Oak,Emagine Rochester Hills, Uptown Palladium 12 and AMC John R 15 for Christmas Day movie showtimes.

What's closed on Christmas

Most Troy businesses are closed on Christmas, as are government offices, banks, both malls and the post office. Refuse collection will be delayed one day due to the holiday.

Most retailers will reopen Thursday and are expecting one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
