While the city of Troy didn't host its own Fourth of July celebration this year, Beachwood Recreation Association's and party were a splash among members of the private club.

Fair weather this Fourth may have helped to put on a happy face after a round of thunderstorms Saturday night, but lightning and thunder may return tonight, according to this forecast by the National Weather Service.

Congressman Thaddeus McCotter (R-Livonia) announced Saturday he will setting his sights on the White House as he runs for president in 2012. McCotter made the announcement at the Freedom Festival in Whitmore Lake before strapping on his American flag-themed six-string guitar and rockin out some blues for the crowd.
