Troy Schools Closed Wednesday

Inclement weather closes school on Wednesday.

A mix of rain, sleet and heavy snow Tuesday into Wednesday morning resulted in a "snow day" for Troy schools.

About 500 schools and school districts in southeast Michigan were closed Wednesday, including Avondale Schools, according to various news reports.

As of Tuesday night, a winter weather advisory had been issued until 12 noon Wednesday by the National Weather Service (NWS). The advisory cautioned of hazardous travel conditions caused by poor visibilities, as well as the possibility of power outages due to the wet, heavy snowfall weighing on tree branches and power lines.
