5 Questions and Answers for Election Day in Troy

A quick look at what you need to know for Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Troy, plus what you'll see on the ballot.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5 and if you're a little fuzzy on the details, Patch is here to help. All of our election coverage, including news stories, candidate profiles and letters to the editor, can be found in the Elections, Local Voices, and Boards categories on our site. Here's what else you should know:

1. What time can I vote? On Election Day, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2. Where do I vote? Find your polling place through an online tool offered by publius.org. Just type in your name, and click "Go." You can also visit the precinct map at troymi.gov (PDF).

3. When will we know who won? Unofficial election returns are available after the polls close at 8 p.m. on Election night and updated throughout the night as the precincts report in. Keep an eye on your local Patch site for updates on local races.

4. What do I need to bring to the polls? Be sure to bring some form of picture identification when you go to vote. The Michigan Secretary of State website has a list of identification accepted at polling places and explains how to vote when you don't have a picture ID. 

The citizenship check box is no longer required. 

5. Who is on the ballot? Voters will choose three members of Troy City Council from a candidate pool including Olimpiu ApahideanWade FlemingSteve GottliebEllen HodorekEdward PenningtonJanice DanielsThomas E. Kuhn, Rodger Walters and Scott T. Welborn.

A Troy School District school improvement bond proposition is also on the ballot.
