FALLEN AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS FUND ANNUAL DINNER SET FOR MARCH 9

Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund Dinner seeks corporate support.

Troy-based automotive group The Suburban Collection is encouraging other businesses and individuals to join them in their support of The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund’s (FWSF) 8th Annual Dinner and Auction planned for March 9th in Novi.

Established in 2006, this Michigan-based nonprofit is dedicated to helping returning veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns who find themselves in need of financial support and assistance related to a variety of areas, from medical expenses to housing costs.  The organization’s website, www.fwsf.org, has complete details on how it assists our veterans and their families. Since its inception, the all-volunteer FWSF has raised over one million dollars to help wounded or fallen soldiers and their families.

Returning troops often face severe delays in getting assistance from Veterans Administration, many caused by the tremendous backlog the VA has for claims.
FWSF has the ability to help those families in need, from paying medical bills, to living expenses, providing foreclosure assistant or arranging from home modifications to create accessible living quarters.

The annual Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fun dinner and auction is one of the group’s major fund raiser.  Organizers anticipate selling over 1,100 tickets.

WDIV’s Chuck Gaidica will continue his role as Master of Ceremonies for the dinner for the seventh consecutive year.  Keynote speaker for this year’s dinner is Don Mann, former member of SEAL Team Six and author of many books including “Inside SEAL Team Six”, a national best seller about his life and missions with America’s elite warriors.  (http://www.usfrogmann.com/)

“The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund was created with the goal of giving back to the troops that have done so much for all of us,” said Ann Cornelius, FWSF board member and event chair. “To consistently see so many Michigan residents and companies support this cause, year after year, has been amazing.  Knowing that, together, we are helping make life a little bit easier for the brave men and
women who have risked so much for our country is a truly gratifying experience.”

In addition to The Suburban Collection, other area companies, organizations and individuals supporting the event include: General Motors; the Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association; Association of the U.S. Army; Women in Defense; IEQ; Harvard Drug Group; Slater; BAE, Phillips Services Industries, Cornelius Systems and Pete Sellpetra.  Additional corporate sponsorships are welcomed, as are items to be offered at the dinner’s silent auction.

Tickets to this important fund-raiser are $110 each and can now be purchased by calling Ann Cornelius at 248-346-5976 or e-mailing her at ann4fwsf@aol.com.  The dinner and auction will be held at The Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
