'I Love My Dad for Many Reasons but His Kindness is My Favorite!'

Great conversations happen every day on Patch. We love to promote community conversation on topics that are important to you.

Each week we will share some of the best comments and conversations.

This week we launched a Father's Day contest asking readers, "what lesson did your dad teach you?"   We already received some great responses.

Terri posted, "My dad taught me to be kind to everyone. We had over 20 family members live in our home when I was growing up. It was not easy but my dad always made room for someone in need. I love my dad for many reasons but his kindness is my favorite!"

Jessica Coss Roland commented, "That laughter is contagious. My dad was often smiling and laughing and that laughter often caught on no matter how mad I might be at him. He's gone now but I can still see his smile and hear his laugh in my ears."

yanddot posted, "My daddy taught me to be proud of who I am and where I came from. Family is everything. Everything else is just 'stuff'..."

There is still time to enter!

Just log on and tell us what your dad taught you by 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 Eastern Time.

The grand prize is an overnight stay in a premium room at The Baronette Renaissance on June 14, 15 or 16 and a $100 food and drink credit at the on-site restaurant, The Toasted Oak. The second prize is a $50 giftcard for Joe's Produce Gourmet Market in Livonia, and the third prize is a $25 giftcard for Uncle Paul's Pizza in Grosse Pointe.
