Patch Readers Raised Nearly $3,000 So Far to Fight Hunger in Michigan

You've purchased and donated $2,698 worth of groceries to Gleaners Community Food Bank, putting us closer to our goal of raising $10,000 to help feed the area's hungry families.

This winter, you're helping put an end to hunger for dozens of Michigan families.

Thanks to dozens of generous donations, Patch has raised $2,698 so far through our Patch Fights Hunger online food drive, supporting Gleaners Community Food Bank.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to feed families throughout southeast Michigan.

This virtual food drive runs through Saturday, Nov. 24, and is the first for the Gleaners Community Food Bank. The 30 Michigan Patch sites are proud and honored to be their first partner.

Marina, oddly enough, just the prior weekend I had rocked on down to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen to drop off a donation. My point, which apparently was lost on Ms. Mathie, is that charity is something from the heart. It's not a competition based on value. I have seen some fantastic acts of charity made of the smallest things from the people that have had the least that have dwarfed seven- or eight-figure checks. It's where you give from.

Thanks to all our readers who give this holiday season, whether it's through our online food drive or another charitable cause. And, please remember that this virtual food drive runs through Saturday so there's still time to participate.

Perhaps if GP didn't come off so flippant in the first response, he could have said that from the get go. Jusy sayin.

Peoples' perception of me is not my problem, neither is puncuating my thoughts with factless and pointless assertions.

No assertions, just reading your original post as is.
