Drunken Driving, Driving Under the Influence Incidents: Feb. 24-25

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following information about recent incidents of drunken driving and driving under the influence is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media release. Note: In Michigan, the blood alcohol content legal limit is .08 percent.

  • A citizen reported a car driving the wrong way on Rochester Road early Sunday morning, at 3:57 a.m. Troy Police found the car parked and running, with one wheel up on a curb, in the parking lot of a fast food establishment at Rochester and Square Lake roads. The driver, a 26-year-old Sterling Heights woman, had thrown up on the wheel, police said. When police asked her where she was, she replied, "Off 8 Mile." Police said that she failed sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, later breath testing at .11 percent. The woman has one previous drinking and driving conviction and two outstanding warrants for her arrest.
  • A 23-year-old man from West Bloomfield was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs after Troy Police said that they found marijuana in his car at 10:50 Monday night. At the intersection of Livernois and West Maple roads, officers stopped his car after he reportedly ran a red light and noticed the strong odor of marijuana inside. Officers said that his speech was so slurred, that they had trouble understanding his answers to questions. A blood test was administered and the results are pending.
  • A 37-year-old woman from Pontiac was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs after Troy Police said that they found marijuana in the center console of her car on Monday night. At the intersection of Interstate-75 and Rochester Road, officers stopped her car and noticed she had bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils. Police said she had been crossing over lane markers and traveling on the freeway at 48 m.p.h. before she was pulled over at 2:34 a.m. She was given a blood test, the results of which are pending.
