Explosion Rocks Unoccupied Industrial Building in Troy

No injuries were reported from the fire on Thursday night.

A wall was blown out, but no injuries were reported at the scene of a fire on Thursday night at 1749 Northwood Drive in the south end of Troy.

Fire Station 3 reported to Monroe & Associates at about 9:30 p.m., when the building was unoccupied, to multiple fire alarms. According to a press release issued Friday, they saw a portion of the rear, west side wall that appeared to have blown out from an explosion inside the building, and smoke showing.

Once inside, firefighters found heavy smoke conditions, but the building’s fire sprinkler system appeared to have contained the majority of the fire. Firefighters extinguished a small amount of the remaining fire, checked for any fire extension, shut down the flowing sprinkler system, and ventilated smoke from the building.
