Gymnastics Coach from Troy Charged With Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Oxford Girl

Jeffrey LeFevre, a coach at GLE Gymnastics in Oxford, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree and soliciting a minor for immoral purposes after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Oxford High School student at the gym.

Jeffrey Edward LeFevre, a 24-year-old Troy resident and coach at GLE Gymnastics in Oxford, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree and soliciting a minor for immoral purposes after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl outside the gym, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The gym immediately suspended LeFevre upon learning of the allegations; LeFevre subsequently resigned, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim's mother reported to deputies last week that her daughter, who trains at the gym as part of Oxford High School's competitive cheerleading program, was sexually assaulted by a staff member in his vehicle outside the gym, according to the sheriff's office.

It also was reported that the suspect had given the girl a pair of underwear and asked her to take sexually explicit pictures of herself with a digital camera he provided, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies recovered the underwear, camera and a note allegedly instructing the girl how to pose for the photos, all of which were still in the girl's possession, according to the sheriff's office.

LeFevre was arrested on Wednesday and interviewed by Detective Jason Louwaert of the Oxford Township Substation. Louwaert said LeFevre gave a statement on his involvement and on engaging in sexual acts with the victim in the parking lot of GLE Gymnastics, according to the sheriff's office.

LeFevre was charged Friday with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree and soliciting a minor for immoral purposes – felonies that carry a 15-year and four-year sentence, consecutively. He was arraigned at 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills in front of Judge Nancy Carniak; his bond was set at $250,000 cash.

GLE Gymnastics informed the sheriff's office that LeFevre had passed a background check in November. On LeFevre's resume, he states he has also worked as a cheer coach or gymnastics instructor at Gymnastics Training Center in Rochester Hills, That's Entertainment Studio for the Performing Arts in Kimball Township and Elite Cheer in Chesterfield Township, according to the sheriff's office.

His resume also states he has previously owned his own business as an instructor and contracted with Avondale School District in Auburn Hills, according to the sheriff's office. However, a spokesperson from Avondale School District confirmed that the district has "no record of Jeffrey Edward LeFevre ever having worked with the Avondale School District as an employee or contractor."

According to the sheriff's office, LeFevre was convicted in July in Macomb County 41B District Court of using a computer to commit a crime – a misdemeanor offense – and is currently on probation, though he did not appear to violate the terms of his probation by using a computer, phone or the internet.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is also investigating reports that LeFevre may have asked others he has coached or come into contact with to engage in similar behavior.

The sheriff's office asks that anyone having information regarding LeFevre's involvement in this incident or other similar incidents contact Detective Louwaert at the Sheriff's Dispatch Center at 248-858-4954.
