Guilty Verdict for Troy Man Accused of Shooting Neighbor in Face

David George Keats of Troy faces sentencing later this month on an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting his next-door neighbor last summer.

Troy resident David George Keats, will face sentencing later his month after being found guilty Tuesday of shooting his neighbor in the face.

Keats, who was 73 at the time of his arrest Aug. 17, 2012, will return to Oakland County Circuit Court Judge James Alexander on April 24 for sentencing. His trial lasted four days.

Troy Police said at the time of the arrest that Keats shot his next-door neighbor, who was 52 at the time, on Atlas Street over a dispute regarding Keats' barking dogs.

Keats was arrested without incident and charged with assault with attempt to murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was later freed on bond, but was ordered not to return to his Troy home.
