Troy Police Officer Assaulted at Hotel; Mom Accused of Stealing with Kids in Tow

Man charged with assaulting police officer at hotel

Hotel security officers called Troy Police to the Troy Marriott hotel around 12:30 a.m. Sunday to remove three intoxicated guests who were yelling and screaming obscenities in the hotel lobby and disturbing other guests, according to a police report.

According to the report, while officers were speaking with one of the subjects, a friend of the subject assaulted a Troy Police officer, who had asked for the subject's room key.

The 63-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms man was arrested and charged with assault and battery and hindering and obstructing a police officer. The man later apologized for his behavior.

Dodge Stratuses stolen from store parking lots

A silver 2002 Dodge Stratus was stolen from the Kohl's parking lot Saturday morning, and a red 2002 Dodge Stratus was stolen from the Bed, Bath & Beyond parking lot Sunday evening, according to Troy Police.

Wheels, tires stolen from new Cadillac

A resident on the 6000 block of Tamarack discovered Friday morning that someone had stolen all four wheels and tires from his 2012 Cadillac Escalade, which was parked in his driveway. The vehicle had been left up on landscaping bricks, according to a police report.

Car windows smashed at Red Roof Inn

A man reported hearing a loud noise outside his hotel room early Sunday and discovered that someone had smashed three windows of his car, and he observed a car circling the hotel's parking lot, according to Troy Police. The man provided Troy Police officers with the vehicle description, and police soon apprehended the driver.

The police report said officers found that the driver, who is the former boyfriend of the vehicle owner's current girlfriend, had followed the pair to the hotel. The man admitted to officers that he had smashed the vehicle's windows, the report said. The 39-year-old Westland resident was arrested on a charge of malicious destruction of property over $1,000.

Mom accused of stealing with kids in tow

A 29-year-old Ohio woman was issued a citation for retail fraud in the second degree after she allegedly stole 17 pieces of merchandise valued at more than $550 from Sephora, according to a police report. The woman had her 2-, 7- and 10-year-old children with her at the time of the theft, the report said.
