Man grabs shopper at Target

A man shopping at Target late Sunday morning reported he was walking through the parking lot when a man approached him, then grabbed him by the arms, according to a media release from the Troy Police Department.

The man refused to let go of the shopper, though he eventually managed to free himself and run from the man. The shopper was uninjured, and police believe the man may be homeless.

The man is described as approximately 40 years old, heavy set and wearing a blue sweatshirt and a safety vest.

2 cars race, 1 crashes on Rochester Road

Troy officers responded to a crash on Rochester Road north of Long Lake Thursday night in which one person was injured. An investigation revealed that two cars had been racing on southbound Rochester Road when the crash occurred.

According to police, the two vehicles were attempting to switch back into the right lane after passing a vehicle when one of the drivers, a 20-year-old Troy man, swerved to avoid a collision and lost control of his vehicle, flipping it.

The driver received minor injuries and was cited for reckless driving. The other driver fled the scene in a red Ford Fusion.

Intoxicated driver cited; gun found in car

Troy Police responded Friday evening to reports of a hit-and-run crash in which the victim was following the at-fault vehicle near Coolidge and Big Beaver roads. Troy officers located both vehicles and spoke to the driver of the at-fault vehicle, who admitted to being in an accident.

According to police, the 57-year-old Macomb man smelled of intoxicants and had glassy eyes. He also had a handgun in the car, for which he had a permit. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, failing to stop and identify at a non-injury accident and carrying a concealed weapon with a blood alcohol content of .10 percent or more.

Teens arrested for drinking, reckless driving

Troy officers stopped a vehicle traveling at 110 mph on Interstate 75 near 14 Mile Road just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.

According to police, the driver, a 17-year-old male from Madison Heights, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Two 17-year-old passengers in the vehicle were cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and minor consuming alcohol.

A 16-year-old passenger was turned over to a parent and will be petitioned to Probate Court for the same offenses.
