Police: 'Person of Interest' in Missing Cyclist Case Suspected of 'Financial Crimes'

A person of interest in the "violent altercation" inside the home of  may have been involved in financial crimes in Auburn Hills, according to a press release from the .

An investigation by the Auburn Hills Police Department led to the issuance of a warrant for the subject's arrest late Tuesday afternoon. The warrant was not issued before District Court closed, however, and Troy Police Department will keep the subject in custody until he or she may be formally charged and arraigned Wednesday morning. 

Because the subject has not been formally charged or arraigned, his or her identity is not yet being released.

Mikes, an avid cyclist, was last seen by his two sons as he was leaving his home on the 2000 block of Homewood on his bicycle Friday afternoon. His sons, 16 and 21, reported him missing late Sunday morning. There were signs of an assault at the residence, according to police.

Mikes is described as 6 feet tall, 170 pounds with short gray hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and black spandex shorts. His bicycle is a Cannondale SuperSix road bicycle that is black and red.

“We are seeking info from anyone who may be aware of Mr. Mikes' bike routes, routines, as well as any locations he may visit," Troy Police Department spokesman Capt. Robert Redmond said at a Monday afternoon press conference.
