Sharpshooting Troy Police Officers Win Governor’s Cup for Marksmanship
It is the tenth year in a row the Troy Police Department has won the annual Michigan Police Shoot.
The following information was provided by the Troy Police Department.
On Sept. 12, the Troy Police Department Pistol Team won the Class A competition at the annual Michigan Police Shoot in Jackson. The team was awarded the Governor’s Cup for Class A, which includes police departments with 100-499 employees.
The annual event is sponsored by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP). The tradition dates back to its inception in 1928, which began at the Michigan State Police Headquarters in East Lansing. The purpose of this event is to encourage marksmanship by Michigan peace officers. The Governor’s trophies have been awarded in each of four classes since 1949.

The 2012 Troy Pistol Team members are: Sgt. Robert Wolfe, Sgt. Joseph Haddad, Officer Craig Fitzpatrick, Officer Milt Stansbury, and Officer Patrick McWilliams. The team won the match with a score of 1251 out of 1500, with 15 shots placed at the center “X” of the bulls eye.
