Troy Police: Man Admits to Holding Knife During Argument at Store

The man, who was arguing with another man, told police he took the knife out of his pocket "for protection."

Troy Police officers responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods just after 5 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a dispute at the store.

Officers arrived and spoke with the two men involved in the altercation. According to a media release from the Troy Police Department, the argument occurred after "the teenage children of one of the men involved in the dispute stepped in front of the other man’s vehicle, causing him to have to suddenly stop his vehicle to avoid a collision."

The teenagers' father then followed the driver into the store and confronted him, "indicating he thought that the man was speeding at the time of the incident."
