VIDEO: Group Collects First Signatures to Recall Troy Mayor

Members of Recall Janice Daniels are now circulating the revised recall petition approved earlier this week.

Members of the political action committee Recall Janice Daniels began collecting signatures to recall the embattled Troy mayor Saturday morning during an informational meeting for petition circulators at the .

"We're very excited to get going on this, and I'm more than pleased by the turnout," petition sponsor and Troy resident Matt Binkowski said.

The group – and any other group circulating a recall petition for an elected official in Troy – must collect roughly 8,000 valid signatures from registered Troy voters in order to initiate a recall election, which would be held at the same time as the presidential election on Nov. 6.

by Troy resident and Daniels supporter Nicholas Cherasaro Jr. Ten of the petitions ask to recall Daniels while the remaining three take aim at Mayor Pro Tem Maureen McGinnis and Councilmen Wade Fleming and Dane Slater. A clarity hearing for those 13 petitions has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 28 in Pontiac.
