In Brief: Troy City Council Approves Law Enforcement Agreement, Council Appointments

The Troy City Council met Monday evening at 7:30 at Troy City Hall for its .

During the meeting, City Council unanimously voted to approve an inter-local agreement for participation in the Oakland County Law Enforcement – Tactical Training Consortium (Oak-TAC), an organization established to coordinate a county-wide training initiative to prepare Oakland County in the event of a major incident that requires response from several police departments.

"I’m just very happy to see this is moving forward," Mayor Pro Tem Maureen McGinnis said. "This is something that’s going to improve our efficiency and decrease our costs. … I’m happy to see this here. Congratulations to the police department and city management for moving forward with this.”

During the meeting, City Council also:

  • Issued a proclamation recognizing Shield's Pizza's 20th Anniversary.
  • Heard public comment from more than a dozen residents on topics ranging from the to the .
  • Unanimously voted to appoint Hugh Stephen Doyle, Barbara Chambers and Padma Kuppa to the Historic District Commission.
  • Unanimously voted to appoint David Ogg and Lawrence Ted Halsey to the Traffic Committee.
  • Unanimously approved a request for nonprofit organization status from the Troy Community Softball Association.
  • Unanimously approved a resolution to set Troy Racquet Club rates for the 2012-2013 season.
  • Unanimously approved a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Canada goose roundup and next destruction program to combat goose overpopulation in Troy.
