Council Appoints Brian Kischnick as New Troy City Manager

Troy City Council voted 7-0 Thursday afternoon to appoint as Troy City Manager after merely five minutes of deliberation Thursday afternoon at Troy City Hall.

If Kischnick accepts Troy's offer, he will soon replace interim Troy City Manager , who has held the position following the departure of  earlier this year.

When paring down the list from five candidates to the final two, six council members voted for Kischnick while Councilman Henderson voted for Farmington City Manager Vince Pastue.

“I believe Mr. Kischnick will come here with the six votes," Councilman Wade Fleming said, "but I would like to give Mr. Henderson to reconsider. I think it speaks volumes for this community if we’re 100 percent.”

Henderson quickly agreed, saying: "I believe Mr. Kischnick would be a great addition to Troy. I’d be happy to change my vote."

During public comment, Troy resident Toby Gosselin lauded council and administrators on the way the search and interviews were conducted.

“Absolutely wonderful experience," Gosselin said. "I want to thank Mr. Culpepper for all you’ve done. It’s been a seamless transition.”

Kischnick was chosen over four other finalists, including Oakland Township Manager , Marine City Manager , Troy Director of Economic and Community Planning , and Farmington City Manager .
