Troy Mayor's Supporters Launch New Website to Fight Recall

A new website paid for by the Committee to Elect Janice Daniels highlights the mayor's accomplishments and asks for donations to fight the recall effort.

As one political action committee continues to to recall Troy Mayor Janice Daniels, another group, the Committee to Elect Janice Daniels, has launched a website in support of the mayor, lauding her accomplishments in office thus far.

The website, www.janicetroymayor.com, also implores others to fight against the recall effort by donating to the campaign.

Daniels, who said she contributed a few photos and some information to the site, told Troy Patch: "In all of my community outreach efforts, I find that there are many people who express their support and offer their prayers to me."

A message from Daniels on the website's homepage reads:

"You may have read that there is a small group of citizens who have filed a petition attempting to remove me from office after only four months into my first four year term.  Although this is a legal option within the American system, we believe that if we could all work together we could achieve great outcomes in Troy. I was elected by the majority of the voters in Troy to address fiscal transparency and integrity in budgeting.

I ask each of you to join me in our effort to help unite us to create a better place to live, work and play. Please donate today to help me fight this recall effort."

The website also lists a phone number, 248-677-8769, where callers can listen to a pre-recorded message from the mayor.

Meanwhile, Daniels, who has said in the past that she is not worried about the recall effort, is choosing not to engage in the recall effort.

“My focus is on keeping the business of the city moving forward," she said. "I can’t be distracted by this issue.”
